Bonjour
In our first meeting, we encountered the following basic structures:
| je m’appelle | + | nom |
| je suis | + | profession/ nationality |
| je parle | + | language |
| j’habite à | + | city/suburb |
| j’aime | + | object/person….. |
You should be able to say your name, profession, nationality, the languages you speak, and something you like.
Since you were so good and talented, I introduced some adverbs of intensity such as:
un peu
bien/mal
comme ci comme ça
trés bien/mal
vraiment bien/mal
and let’s not be too modest:
Je parle vraiment très très très bien français.
Remember to use you the intonation of insistance. You don’t want to sound like a robot. Language is a melody. Sing it!
Practice then this monologue

Vocabulaire
We added in our list a new dimension
I He/She You
Je m’appelle Il/Elle s’appelle Vous vous appelez
Je suis Il/Elle est Vous êtes
Je parle Il/Elle parle Vous parlez
J’aime Il/Elle aime Vous aimez
J’habite à Il/Elle habite à Vous habitez à
Je travaille à Il/Elle travaille à Vous travaillez à
So now you can not only introduce yourself, but also gossip about a third person and ask someone some basic information .
Try introducing the following people first at the first person (I), then describing them(He/she) and finally check with them if the statement are correct (Vous)

Un peu de grammaire
Regular Verbs Vs Irregular Verbs.
A regular verb is a verb who follow the same pattern, For instance, to dance, to walk are regular while to speak (I spoke, I have spoken) or to say (I said, said) are irregular.
What is the most irregular verb in English?
Of course to be.
If it was regular you would say: I be, you bes, I bed, I have bed…. Silly… but spare the thought with the poor little French pupil trying to make sense of that.
Well, you turn… now the most irregular verb in French
Le verbe être. The verb to be
You will find in the back of your book all the forms of the verbs.
And here are some sites where you can practice during the week

You can of course practice listening the French Experience CD. At this moment, you should concentrate at understanding and saying them rather than writing.

Salut Danny!
Merci pour University of Regina links. The little quizzes on spelling and postcodes were very good! I kept getting confused with the pronounciations of R and E – but I got there in the end.
The song was very nice but a little too fast for my “slow” hearing.
The MCQ link at the end is not active?
Thanks again

Salut Danny
I like the link to Dynamots – Les Salutations. It has 23 pages! I have started them but am wondering if I should continue all the way to the end?
I think I will go through the rest of your exercises above first and then return to the Dynamots (and other) sites afterwards.

Tu es fatiguée. Je suis fatigué aussi.
And even if it’s a bit early now, bonne nuit aussi.

Bonsoir Danny!
I have been through most of Lecon 3. I really enjoy doing the interactive exercises. They are useful to practice with. I also enjoy having the audio component while i am revising what we have learnt.I was wondering whether we would be able to check our answers for the practise situations?
A demain,
Bonne soiree,
Romy

Bonjour Danny,
I really like the links to the sites that you can listen to pronounciation, it allows you to practice. I also like the quizzes or mini-tests to reinforce what you know (or think you know).
Merci,
Rachael

I’ve been thinking lately that being frugal is not a bad idea. My credit history is not that great mostly because of lat payments on credit cards. But I still feel like the only way to rebuild it is to get another credit card and quickly pay it back. Which one do you feel will work among those at
